Get the Game and Play.
Game Setup Guide.
1. Have World of Warcaft and
The Burning Crusade Retail Client Installed
You can buy this in shops or get a free
trial account at worldofwarcraft.com and patch it or there
are torrent downloads below(see our FAQ
for torrent info). There is also a playable client on the wowwiki site below
that may work after patching.
Here's a torrent site for WoW and burning crusade (you
only need the files in the classic client 2.3.0 engb folder of the torrent then
use the enGB installer below to patch to burning crusade, or you can get entire
torrent, your choice):
World
of Warcraft + Burning Crusade + patches [2.3.3 enGB]
Here's a direct download from Blizz if you already have
WoW enUS installed but not Burning Crusade, (then you dont need the above torrent
at all, this will NOT work with the torrent which is enGB):
https://www.worldofwarcraft.com/account/download/clients/pc/WoW-BurningCrusade-enUS-Installer-downloader.exe
Or the GB version, (if you downloaded the partial torrent
above):
WoW-BurningCrusade-enGB-Installer-downloader.exe
2. Download and install update
patches to a supported version.
Current Supported Versions: 2.4.3 (may differ, check realm
status on main page for current patch versions)
You can use WoW to auto-download patches by clicking the launcher.exe, or your
can download them manually from these sites:
http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors
http://a.wirebrain.de/wow/
3. Go into your WoW Burning
Crusade folder (usually called World of Warcraft), open the file called realmlist.wtf
in notepad and change it to say only the one line below:
set realmlist wow.dethpod.com
Then save file and close
There is a nice editing program called notepad++,
its easier to edit the files and it dont leave behind hidden characters like notepad
can, download it here
You can also download the file here: realmlist.zip
and overwrite/replace the one in your World of warcraft
folder. If you cannont edit or replace the realmlist.wtf file make sure it isn't
set to "read only" (right click file and check properties, if you have vista
problems, see below). Or use our launcher to replace the file with the set realmlist
button.
Or if you want to switch back and forth from retail to
our server you can comment out lines like so:
this one will join to retail
because our line is commented out:
//set realmlist wow.dethpod.com
set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
this one will join to Dethpod
because the blizzard lines are commented out:
set realmlist wow.dethpod.com
//set realmlist us.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
//set patchlist us.version.worldofwarcraft.com
we suggest you may want to comment out the patchlist
line anyway so your client dont upgrade. Vista users, you may
not be able to modify and save this file if thats the case move your entire
game out of the program files folder to anyplace else, vista has some strange
protection on that folder.
4. Make a website account
at wow.dethpod.com
Once that is done, you are all ready to log in with your
account information and get playing! Please wait up to at most 10 minutes before
your new account will be loaded into the logon server. If you need extra help
try our Live Chat / Help Desk, no promises, but we try to help out as much as
possible, if nobody responds try back later. We are in no way Affiliated with
any torrent downloads or WoW Files in any way, we may provide links to sites
but they have nothing to do with wow.dethpod.com.
5. Staying on Dethpod and
not allowing your game client to update.
1. Never start the game using blizzard's launcher (launcher.exe)
2. Either use our dethpod_launcher.exe or start the game
by double clicking wow.exe in your world of warcraft folder.
3. Delete or "Comment out" the patchlist line
from your realmlist.wtf file to disable update checks (check step 4 for more
info).
4. Delete the games shortcut icon that blizzard places
on your desktop.
5. Or create your own shortcut for the game. Find wow.exe,
right click and select create new shortcut, and drag that icon to your desktop.
6. In case you upgraded by accident check this forum
